Alton Towers
Alton Towers Them Park is situated near Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire. It is one of the UK's biggest tourist attractions. Set in the grounds of a semi-ruined gothic country house Alton Towers is home to some of the world most exciting roller coasters.
The main reason for most people to visit Alton Towers is the Thrill Rides, Alton Towers are always coming up with new ways to scare their visitors on their White Knuckle Rides - here are a few of the existing ones.
Air A roller coaster where you ride in a lying down position designed to make the experience as close to flying as possible. It has many twists and turns and at one point riders are riding on their backs.
Rita This high speed roller coaster accelerates from 0 62 mph in 2.2 seconds.
Nemesis Europe's first ever inverted roller coaster.
TH13TEEN This was the world's first freefall drop rollercoaster
The Blade a huge prate ship with zero gravity
Ripsaw this ride swings you high into the air whilst you are being targeted by powerful jets of water
Oblivion This is a high speed roller coaster with the world's first ever vertical drop
Submission this ride spins your carriage around and turns you upside down.
Enterprise named after the USS Enterprise from Star passengers sit in gondolas arranged in a circle it moves clockwise the ride then raises and tilts the frame so that the ride is rotating at 87 from the horizontal, transforming the ride from a horizontal experience to a nearly vertical one.

This is just a small selection of the rides at Alton Towers other attractions include indoor play areas, games stalls, a farm which contains a petting zoo, the gardens and the Tower Ruins, crazy golf and theatres.
There are many food outlets and retail outlets all around the park.
There is a skyline cable cars to help you get around the huge park.
In 1996 Alton Towers Hotel opened up allowing guests to stay over and spread their visit over 2 or more days meaning you don't have to miss out on any of the rides or attractions.
The Alton Towers Water Park, previously known as Cariba Creek, opened in 2003. An indoor and outdoor water park which incorporates fast slides and with other water attractions.
The Splash Landings Hotel opened in 2003 as part of the water park.
Between the two hotels is Alton Towers Conference Centre.
